2024 INDIGENOUS TOURISM EXPERIENCE AWARD NOMINATION FORM

The Hospitality Saskatchewan Awards recognize and foster excellence in our province’s tourism industry. These industry awards honour people, places, businesses, organizations, and events that go above and beyond to offer superior tourism experiences to visitors and residents.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applications will be accepted from all individuals, organizations or businesses that support the Saskatchewan tourism
industry.

Nominations are based on activities completed between July 31, 2023, and June 30, 2024

Organizations or businesses may be self‐nominated or nominated by another party.

NOMINATION PROCESS

THE NOMINATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY JULY 12.  Awards will be presented at the annual Gather Again Conference at the Conexus Arts Centre Regina on Tuesday September 24th.

Nominations must be completed on this form and submitted prior to the deadline.

Nominations must adhere to the general eligibility criteria and category‐specific criteria. Nominations must be original
each year and in each category. Hospitality Saskatchewan reserves the right to re-categorize or reject nominations that
do not meet these rules or criteria, or the spirit of the awards program.

Nominees must be advised by the applicant that they are being nominated for a Hospitality Saskatchewan Award

EVALUATION

Nominations will be reviewed and scored by an Award Selection Committee and will be kept completely confidential.

The Award Selection Committee is an external panel. Committee members who have a conflict of interest remove themselves from judging the category in question.

The Award Selection Committee will select a maximum of three finalists for each award (excluding the Tourism Builder Award). Finalists will be notified by mail approximately one month prior to the Hospitality Saskatchewan Tourism Awards Dinner.

Award Criteria: Recognizes a business, partnership, organization, event, or attraction that incorporates Saskatchewan Indigenous culture, traditions, and stories into its product offering. This recipient demonstrates a commitment to delivering authentic Indigenous experiences and working collaboratively to enhance the tourism landscape in Saskatchewan.

  • Describe the nominee and provide an overview as to why they are deserving of the Indigenous Tourism Experience Award, highlighting how their Indigenous cultural practices and storytelling are weaved into its tourism product offerings, providing guest experiences that are authentic, educational, and meaningful. For example…
  • Demonstrate how the nominee contributes to the long‐term growth of the tourism industry locally and/or provincially, and to Saskatchewan’s image as an inviting destination.
  • Highlight any figures or accomplishments that underscore the nominee’s contributions to tourism growth
  • Explain the nominee’s social/cultural impact in the community through the promotion and advancement of Indigenous culture.
  • Demonstrate how the nominee is committed to environmental and cultural sustainability.
